This winter season, the last thing you need is your furnace going out. Ok, so it had that weird sound last year, but you made it through. Maybe it had that funky smell . . . but you only need it for a few months, right?
Signs You Have Furnace Problems That Need Attention:
- It Sounds Like It Might Explode. Having a dirty air filter in your furnace can cause the system to work overtime. If the filter is dirty, the system has to work overtime to regulate the air. If your furnace seems to have a lack of airflow, sounds clogged up or isn’t heating properly, check to make sure the filter doesn’t need to be replaced. It will help extend the life of your furnace.
- It Is Overly Hot to the Touch and/or Something is Clanking Inside. There are a bunch of mechanical parts that help your furnace move air and control your environment. Sometimes these parts can wear out over time and cause furnace problems. If you start hearing strange noises (like a fan belt isn’t working) or the furnace seems to be overheating, you may need a replacement part.
- It Doesn’t Seem to Want to Start At All. Sometimes the pilot or ignition on your furnace gives out and it’s time to have it repaired or replaced. If it seems like you are having difficulty getting your furnace to heat or it will not stay on consistently, make sure to have a professional check the pilot or ignition for connection issues.
No one wants to learn they have furnace problems on the coldest day of the year. So listen and keep an eye out for issues at all times, and make sure to have one of our contractors from Climate Control Systems come perform routine maintenance at the beginning of the cold season, so you will stay comfortable all winter long. Don’t let furnace problems burn you up!
